Dear Linda,
hope you can help me understanding the concept of Questionbox. I belive it is about the horse asking questions inside the box. About direction, the size of the circle and gait. I have seen the pattern video several times, but unfortunately I do not get any clever.
If my horse willingly follows my body, is that a question?
If my horse himself goes f.ex to the right, in trot, big circle - is that a question or is it something he just does?
Or should my horse by himself kind of doing a halfpass in the box and almost rock his body from side to side asking me which direction I want him to go?
My horse really follows my moves, but I dont experience it as a question. BUT, I have noticed that he has both his ears at me inside the box, so it is certain that he knows something is going on there. Is that enough as a question?
I feel I can not do my freestyle audition level 3 until I have mentally got the concept, even if me and my horse physically can accomplish the pattern.
Said in a more simple way: How will I experience (notice/feel/see) the question being asked?
Some days later: I have finally understood the question box now. After several days reflecting hard I watched the pattern video again and suddenly I was mentally ready to absorb the message.
It is so frustrating when you want something badly and you know you are starting to get closer but not really getting there, trying hard, and then - just like that- the tunnel is opening and you see the light. That is a great feeling!
I also want to use this opportunity to tell you that after reaching level 3 the Parelli method is a totaly new world for me. After level 1 and level 2 and long time being somewhere in level 3 the puzzles start to fall in place and having a whole new meaning!

Thank you XXX, that's wonderful to hear.
And re the Question Box, the idea is that the horse learns not to make assumptions and starts to ask you questions as you come through the box - are we keeping going, stopping, changing direction, doing a lead change, etc. And you feel it sometimes like a momentary hesitation, and yes, an ear flicking back your way. You will know that they are really in tune with you and thinking if when you do ask for something as you go into the box, it happens right away... because the horse is really ready.
